Additional Information
Academic Background
I graduated from Huntington Beach High School. After graduating, I went to Orange Coast College where I majored in English and graduated with an AA degree. I then transferred to California State University, Long Beach where I completed coursework and received my BA in English education with an emphasis in creative writing. I completed post- graduate credential work at CSULB and received a single subject teaching credential in English.
Family
My husband, mom, and grandpa are the most important people in my life and they mean the world to me.
Why did you become a teacher?
I have always had a love and passion for English and hope to develop an interest and appreciation in the subject amongst my students. I believe that learning the subject of English can and should be fun.
Years teaching?
This is my 2nd year teaching at Westminster High School. I conducted my student teaching at Huntington Beach High School where I taught a Sheltered English class and two senior level CP English classes. I also piloted and taught a sophomore level CAHSEE prep class at Huntington Beach High School during my student teaching.
Personal Comments/Quotes
"The one thing in life that you can change is yourself, but sometimes that makes all the difference to you and the world" -Ghandi.
Interests & Hobbies
I love reading, singing, watching movies and traveling. One of my most memorable trips was when my mom and I took a 12 day European cruise to celebrate my college graduation. We traveled to Rome, Italy, Croatia, Barcelona, and France. It was an amazing trip! Recently, my husband and I took a week long trip to Jamaica where I swam with dolphins and we climbed a waterfall. It was a wonderful adventure! I hope to travel to Ireland, New York and Australia in the future.
Most memorable moment
My most memorable teaching moment was when I assigned a writing prompt in which students were to write about their heroes. One of my English students wrote a paragraph about me being her hero because I expressed a caring, helpful attitude towards her. I kept and treasure that writing assignment. Other non academic, memorable moments in my life were the day my husband proposed to me at Angel's Stadium and my wedding.
